Agnes of God

By John Pielmeier, Directed by Matthew Davenport
November 19th – 29th, 2015

Review Vancouver critic Ed Farolan experienced “Amazing actors … [that] captivated the audience… You could hear a pin drop as these three performed their best…”.

And according to Beyond YVR, “…the themes of this play are universal for anyone concerned with the plight of girls and women. The acting is compelling, and I was more drawn into the mystery than I expected”.

Cast, in order of appearance:
Tiffany Markwart as Doctor Martha Livingstone
Paula Spurr as Mother Miriam Ruth
Annie Arbuckle as Agnes

Summoned to a convent, Dr. Martha Livingstone, a court-appointed psychiatrist, is charged with assessing the sanity of Agnes, a novice nun accused of murdering her newborn child. Further arousing Dr. Livingstone’s suspicion, Mother Superior Miriam Ruth tries to keep her young charge away from the doctor’s pointed questions. In trying to find out who killed the infant as well as attempting to identify the father of the tiny victim, Livingstone forces all three women to reexamine the meaning of faith, the power of love, and the authenticity of miracles.

Performances are Thursday – Saturday evenings at 8:00 PM and Sunday matinees at 2:00 PM at the PAL Studio Theatre, Vancouver.
